50 years of history

1975: IGAB was founded as a small artisan printing business, aiming to become a publishing house. Early works were books for local publishers.

 

1979: Scatolificio Udinese was founded, focusing on creating protective, communicative packaging for client success.

 

1984: IGAB expanded by acquiring a warehouse in Basiliano, combining both businesses and introducing innovative packaging techniques.

 

2013: IGAB transitioned to a partnership, transferring production to Scatolificio Udinese, focusing on design and prototyping. Certifications like UNI 9001, FSC, and PEFC were achieved.

 

2020: IGAB launched a creative e-commerce platform, supporting professionals and people with disabilities, and partnered with Creativi per Solidarietà.

February 2020: IGAB and Scatolificio Udinese collaborated with Majer pastry shop and the Venice Academy of Fine Arts to create exclusive packaging for the ARTE LAGUNA Prize.

May 2020: Scatolificio Udinese expanded with a new 500 sqm warehouse to meet growing customer demands.

June 2020: Scatolificio Udinese’s evolving packaging was featured in Il Friuli Business.

September 2020: Scatolificio Udinese provided cardboard solutions for the Terzani Prize, ensuring safety during the pandemic.

 

2021: Scatolificio Udinese contributed to a 1:1 scale cave bear for the "Ancient Inhabitants of the Caves in Friuli" exhibition, symbolizing eco-sustainability.

April 2021: Scatolificio Udinese participated in Udine Design Week with the Altalympha project by Federica Ceppellotti.

 

2022 Scatolificio Udinese proudly won First Prize from the Expert Jury and an honourable mention from the Public Jury at Udine Design Week Spring 2022, organized by MUDEFRI, for a project in cardboard designed by architect Paola Marpillero.

2023 Through IGAB’s inclusive e-commerce platform, all 50 limited-edition 5L bag-in-boxes created by Luca Rigonat—a digital eye-gaze artist from Villa Vicentina—were sold out.

December 2023 Scatolificio Udinese played a key role in ZIMOUN – Villa Manin for Contemporary Art, supplying all the cardboard materials used for the installations.

2024 At another successful Udine Design Week, Scatolificio Udinese provided materials and production support for 1:1 scale cardboard models of five female-designed objects, exhibited at the Gallerie del Progetto, created by architecture students from the University of Udine.

2025 In the year of Nova Gorica–Gorizia as European Capital of Culture, Scatolificio Udinese helped design a new, unique version of the Ss. Ilario and Taziano Prize – City of Gorizia, presented to the Italian President Sergio Mattarella and to the former Slovenian President Borut Pahor.
